The Sequoia Hawks boys basketball team beat the Burton Bulldogs 50-26 by playing solid defense and moving the ball around on offense. The defense, led by Kaldoon Sarwar, Cooper Fish, and David Ceballos controlled the pace of the game and wore down the Burton offense. Offensively, Matthew Barba was able to flash the high post and find cutting Sequoia players with great passes for layups. Sebastian Moscorro, Cooper Fish and Kaldoon Sarwar led the team in scoring. Way to go Hawks!
In the JV match, Trace Hornsby came to play using his body on defense to block out Burton’s big man defensively and Trace converted three short jump shots offensively to help the Hawks beat Burton 35-21. The JV used pressure defense led by Tyler Sousa, Ethan Castle, Ramsey Barrios, and Jose Miranda to create turnovers and many scoring opportunities. In one highlight of the match, Andrew Baxter stole the ball at mid court and while falling out of bounds flung the ball ahead to Diego Mendoza who finished with a layup. Konner Collins and Ayden Ceballos also played well offensively for Sequoia. Way to go boys!
