Cross Country Takes Home 1st & 2nd in the League Finals

On Tuesday, October 11, the Sequoia Cross Country Team ended its season by competing in the League Championships held at the Porterville Sports Complex.

The girl's team ran alongside Summit in a very intense battle for the championship title. Kasara Serr finished the season as a League Champion by winning the girl's race in 10 minutes 50seconds, taking home a first place medal. Other medal winners included Julissa Andrade placing 6th overall and Kristen Gomez 8th. Lizzie Crocker and Lexi Cox battled against the last two Summit runners beating both at the finish line coming in 14th and 15th. A special shout out goes out to Keanna Jackson for being the first 7th grade girl to cross the line for Sequoia in 21st place, which was her highest finish this season. The team came up just 4 points short as they finished 2nd overall. They fought hard and all ran extremely well!

The Sequoia boys won the cross-country championship for the first time in Sequoia history. Miguel Sanchez ran a season best time of 9 minutes and 57 seconds earning a 2nd place medal. Other medal winners include Seth Aparicio who finished just behind Miguel in 3rd place and Evan Isihda 5th. Running in a tight pack was William Villegas 7th, Thomas Herrera 8th, Jose Baca 9th and David Herrera 10th. The Sequoia team had a very low score of only 23, which is amazing!
