First Game of Boys' Basketball and Girls' Soccer Season

On Wednesday our Varsity Boys Basketball team had a home game against the Bartlett Bobcats and beat them 74-23. Our boys played a better game both offensively and defensively, but realize there is still room for improvement. Matthew Rivera had 16 points 4 assist and 6 steals while Kaleb Salazar had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assist and 3 steals. Mathew was named Player of the Game. Isaiah Ellis put up 10 points with 5 rebounds. Overall, the players had opportunities and capitalized on those to score. Great win boys.

You find out the character of people not when they win, but when they lose. The Lady Hawks showed great character and battled till the very last second in a 2-1 loss to the Bartlett Bobcats. Falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Hawks tied the game on a perfectly placed free kick by Darlene Navarro. However, the Bobcats took advantage of a defensive lapse minutes later scoring a second goal. The Lady Hawks never gave up and had a series of corner kicks as time expired, but couldn’t convert. Sophia Mendoza, Mikayla Rodriguez, Marisol Hernandez and Vanessa Suarez kept the Hawks in the game with a great defensive effort, Darlene Navarro was named player of the game. The Hawks will learn from this loss and will be a better team because of the character they displayed in defeat.
