Hawk Football Team Named the Whitney League Champions

On October 13th the Hawk football team played two games for the Whitney League championship.

In the semi-final game Sequoia beat Los Tules 37-7. The game started with Carlos Linan returning the opening kick off 70 yards for a touchdown. Next, Jakob Castillo returned an interception 70 yards for a score. The third touchdown was made by Jade Church on a 60 yard punt return. Carlos Linan went on to throw 2 touchdown passes to Brandon WEstoby of 20 and 30 yards. The second half continued to be exciting when Jacob Haas returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and Lucky Gonzalez. Bobby Survera, Isaac Quinones, Salvador Andrade and Zack Acencio played outstanding defense to secure the win.

After a quick break, the Hawks went straight into the championship game. They were matched again Pioneer making it the third time they played them this season. The game proved to be a defensive battle. Late in the first half the Hawks moved down the fiend behind the blocking of Alberto Novoa, Joseph Valdez, Juan Alcantar and Brandon Adcox. With 2 second to go in the first half, Jade Church jumped over a Pioneer defender and caught a Carlos LInan pass for a touchdown. In the second half, the Hawk defense held back the Mustang offense several times.
